Meet the Founders of All Things Running

Norris Beale:  Norris became a runner on a cold, wet, Saturday morning in February 1980.  He was 15 years old and jogging through the drizzle and fog on that miserable wet winter morning, he realized that he actually was enjoying it!  It wasn’t until later would he realize the extent of the disease incurred by being so profoundly bitten by the distance runner bug.  He ran through high school.  He ran through 20 years of military service.  He has run through the good times of life and run through the bad.  He shows no signs of tiring of the runner’s life.  Along the way, Norris has raced in excess of 1100 miles, including more than 20 marathons and scores of shorter distances.
Most notable accomplishments include:
2:52:36 at Myrtle Beach Marathon 2005
1:20:23 (13.1) at Spinx RunFest Half Marathon (Greenville, SC) 2007
36:17 (10K) at Chattahoochee Running Club 10K 2006
5:00:07 (mile) Furman University All Comers Track Meets 2007

While serving in the U.S. Army, Norris became certified as a “Master Fitness Trainer”, then went on to complete a 3 year tour as an instructor with the U.S. Army Physical Fitness School.  He has been trained as an Army medic and held certifications as an EMT by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.  He has also been certified as a “personal trainer” by the American College of Sports Medicine.
Norris is married to Mila.  They have two daughters.
Call in the “cheese police” but Norris really believes that to adapt the “runner’s lifestyle” is to profoundly improve the quality of ones life.

Adam Ward: Augusta State head cross country coach Adam Ward has been coaching runners for the better part
of 6 years.  An avid runner, Adam continues his love for running, by pursuing a career as a collegiate long distance
coach.  After three seasons, Adam has helped return the ASU Jaguars to respectability and brought a new level of
competitiveness to the squad.  The "lady jags" have enjoyed considerable success in both 2006 and 2007.
A 2001 graduate of Murray State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Ward served as a volunteer assistant
coach with the ASU cross country program in 2003.  He assisted the Murray State University cross country and
track programs in a similar role in 2001.
He is a USA Track and Field Level II certified endurance/distance coach.
Adam was awarded the Peach Belt Conference Women's XC Coach of the Year in both 2006 and 2007.
Adam earned his master’s degree in Health & Physical Education from Augusta State in 2005.

In the true spirit of coaching, Adam has a history of creating and implementing innovative training programs for runners
that help them succeed all the while remaining cognizant of their risk factors for injury.  Adam developed a 5k training
program in his hometown of Owensboro, KY. While the focus of this program was to reach novice runners, many other
runners with varying levels of fitness, participated in the class in order to prepare them to run their first 5k or lower
their existing PR.  Locally, Adam was the driving force behind the "IV Team" (inhibited velocity) training group and a
summer 2007 camp for high school cross country runners.  Both of these programs enjoyed considerable success.

He is married to the former Ashlynn Young of Augusta, Ga. They have two children, Carter (Feb2006)
        and MaryBlake (Dec07)
